God wants us to know Him. He has revealed Himself in both prophecy and in deeds all through the Bible. It is to us to prayerfully and honestly consider all scripture when trying to discern the character and the person of God.
It is in the language of the Bible- Hebrew. The simple name “El”,for example, spelled aleph- lamed: aleph- the strong, mighty one; first letter of abba- father lamed- a cattle goad or shepherds staff- the one who leads us, shepherds us. la’med is the one who schools us, and who we become accustomed to Together they mean God is the One who leads and teaches us, the Father we should come to know.
It’s in scripture:
Psalm 46:10 “Desist, and learn that I am God, supreme over the nations, supreme over the earth."
Proverbs 8:17 “I love those who love me; and those who seek me will find me.”
Acts 17:27 “God did this so that people would look for him and perhaps reach out and find him although in fact, he is not far from each one of us,”
And these two wonderful statements of who God is;
1 Samuel 2:6-8 “"ADONAI kills and makes alive; he brings down to the grave, and he brings up. ADONAI makes poor, and he makes rich; he humbles, and he exalts. He raises the poor from the dust, lifts up the needy from the trash pile; he gives them a place with leaders and assigns them seats of honor. "For the earth's pillars belong to ADONAI; on them he has placed the world.”
Exodus 34:5-7 “ADONAI descended in the cloud, stood with him there and pronounced the name of ADONAI. ADONAI passed before him and proclaimed: "YUD-HEH-VAV-HEH!!! Yud-Heh-Vav-Heh [ADONAI] is God, merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in grace and truth; showing grace to the thousandth generation, forgiving offenses, crimes and sins; yet not exonerating the guilty, but causing the negative effects of the parents' offenses to be experienced by their children and grandchildren, and even by the third and fourth generations."”
It’s in every prophecy of judgment:
2 Chronicles 7:17-22 “17 As for you, if you will live in my presence, as did David your father, doing everything I have ordered you to do, and keeping my laws and rulings; 18 then I will establish the throne of your rulership, as I covenanted with David your father when I said, 'You will never lack a man to be ruler in Isra'el.' 19 But if you turn away and abandon my regulations and mitzvot which I have set before you, and go and serve other gods, worshipping them; 20 then I will pull them up by the roots out of the land I have given them. This house, which I consecrated for my name, I will eject from my sight; and I will make it an example to avoid and an object of scorn among all peoples. 21 This house, now so exalted - everyone passing by will be shocked at the sight of it and will ask, 'Why has ADONAI done this to this land and to this house?' 22 But the answer will be, 'It's because they abandoned ADONAI the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and took hold of other gods, worshipping and serving them; this is why [ADONAI] brought all these calamities on them.'"
It’s in the names God gave us as His. Just a few: Adir—"Strong One" Adon Olam—"Master of the World" Avinu Malkeinu—"Our Father, our King" Bore—"the Creator" Ehiyeh sh'Ehiyeh—"I Am That I Am": a modern Hebrew version of "Ehyeh asher Ehyeh" Elohei Avraham, Elohei Yitzchak ve Elohei Ya'aqov—"God of Abraham, God of Isaac, and God of Jacob" Elohei Sara, Elohei Rivka, Elohei Leah ve Elohei Rakhel—"God of Sarah, God of Rebecca, God of Leah, and God of Rachel" El haGibbor—"God the Hero" or "God the Strong One" or "God the Warrior" Emet—"Truth" HaKadosh, Barukh Hu—"The Holy One, Blessed be He" HaRachaman-"The Merciful One" Kadosh Israel—"Holy One of Israel" Melech HaMelachim—"The King of kings," or Melech Malchei HaMelachim "The King, King of kings", to express superiority to the earthly rulers title. Makom or HaMakom—literally "The Place", perhaps meaning "The Omnipresent"; see Tzimtzum Magen Avraham—"Shield of Abraham" Ribono shel `Olam—"Master of the World" Ro'eh Yisra'el—"Shepherd of Israel" Tzur Israel—"Rock of Israel" YHWH-Yireh (Adonai-jireh)—"The LORD will provide" (Genesis 22:13–14) YHWH-Rapha—"The LORD that healeth" (Exodus 15:26) YHWH-Nissi (Adonai-Nissi)—"The LORD our Banner" (Exodus 17:8–15) YHWH-Shalom—"The LORD our Peace" (Judges 6:24) YHWH-Ro'i—"The LORD my Shepherd" YHWH-Tsidkenu—"The LORD our Righteousness"[27] (Jeremiah 23:6) YHWH-Shammah (Adonai-shammah)—"The LORD is present" (Ezekiel 48:35)
So clearly God wants us to seek Him and to know Him. He has told us who He is not only in His Word, but in the very aleph bet used to pen those tomes. But it is to us to search diligently and completely, taking all scripture into account and discerning it rightly. God told us who He is in His Word, showed us who He is in His Son, and leads us to see who He is by His Ruach. Disregarding any of these will inevitably lead to false conclusions and heretical theologies. My opinion, based on prayerful study of the whole Word.

I was in a study last week that was very similar to your thoughts...that Abba wants us to know His ways, and His thoughts that we might copy them, and become more like Him. His Names present us with His reality, and the study of the Scriptures present us with how He thinks and acts, that we might know Him more completely.
I agree that disregarding any part of who G-d is is dangerous, for we will surely be seeing far too little of the true picture, and underestimate the One who made us. And that will lead to slanted views, and incomplete thoughts about Him.
I find that all too many people want to put Abba in their specific box, and let Him do only what makes them comfortable, tossing away a great deal of what they can know now, and expectantly await knowing better in the Kingdom.
