I find this interesting. Why do you feel the need to convert traditional Christians?
Actually that is the point, I don't. People who seek MJ typically come to the understanding that things are not right on their own. If I find someone like that, I'd like to be able to offer them guidance away from some of the craziness out there. But I do not actively try to convert those involved in any of the ministries I'm in.
I do share my views when appropriate, and if I witness to someone it is from an MJ perspective unless that would cause problems.
Do you feel they must accept the laws in order to be "saved"?
If pressed I'd say no, strict adherence is not a requirement for salvation. However God said to do it, so I think I should. I got a Jewish book on the mitzvoth that are applicable today. A good Christian should be doing most of them anyhow, so really it's not that great an act of obedience to go all the way. Now the fences are another animal entirely ... but I'll go through that gate when I get there.
Doesn't their belief in Jesus as the savior/messiah grant them salvation?
It is true we must believe, John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.’ “
James 2:26 "For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead." We weren't called to just warm a pew. Those in mainstream Christians who are working for God are, I think, saved. Those who do nothing are missing the mark.
But yes, I would like to see more movement towards observance throughout Christianity as a whole.
It is not just belief that saves us. It is repentance, a complete turning from the works of the flesh to the indwelling works of the Ruach. Luke 13:3 “No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Hope that answered your questions. Feel free to ask if you need clarification- I'm not as clear as I used to be.
