I have a Catholic Bible that I bought for the Hanukkah story in Maccabees. I've read Sirach. It's very interesting. I liked it. I'm curious about the rest of the Apocrypha. There are done interesting things in there that really line up with observant and godly living. Anyone else read any of the Apocrypha? What do you think? I have read them all and the ones I like the most are the two volumes about the Maccabees.

Yedidyah, can you please tell me where to post a thread? I am embarrassed to say that I can't find the place for threads. Thanks

There are done interesting things in there that really line up with observant and godly living. Anyone else read any of the Apocrypha? What do you think? I think that the Apocryphal books are sometimes helpful to understand beliefs of the Jewish people in the era that the books were written, and that sometimes they can be inspirational. Since they aren't in the "canon", the beliefs in them are not necessary teachings of Judaism or Christianity.
I liked Wisdom of Solomon. It has a section where it reasons out what would happen if a holy righteous person came into the world. The person would be rejected by society because of the sinfulness in society. He would conflict with powerful people in the society. It's a general observation, but there is truth in it, as shown by the rejection of the prophets in ancient Israel. Wisdom of Solomon can help point to the suffering and rejection that the Messiah would face when He came into the world, as Isaiah 53 suggested.
