Shabbat Shalom, I was looking through some Jewish Recipes and i will be making some Matzo Balls. I dont have the right ingredients but when i do, this is what I will be making , hopefully soon before Passover comes. I hope I get to feeling better but for now... What are your favorite Jewish foods?

I have a cook book that has been passed down through the family called "Healthy Jewish Cooking" by: Steven Raichlen
It has some great recipes in it and if you want anything specific let me know. Do you have a good Challah Bread recipe? I think this one in this book is the best.

Todah! if you have some other recipes you would like to share, please add them, I want to make some Jewish foods. I saw how to twist the Challah bread, don't know if I can do it right...? Pinterest is a wonderful place to find jewish food recipes. Do you or anyone on the forum go on Pinterest? Just wondering? And yes The Challah bread... does it come with raisins?

Honey Vanilla Challah
1 package of dry yeast 2 tablespoons sugar 1 cup warm water 2 eggs, lightly beaten ¼ cup honey * can use sugar in same amount if you are out of honey. ¼ cup olive or canola oil 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 2 teaspoons salt 4 to 4 ¼ cups unbleached all-purpose flour 1 egg white, beaten lightly with fork *optional 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds *optional
1. Place the yeast and 2 tablespoons of sugar in a small bowl and add ¼ cup of warm water. Stir to mix and let sit for 10 min. 2. To make dough in a mixer, place yeast mixture, remaining ¾ cup of water, eggs, honey, oil, and vanilla in the mixing bowl. Using dough hook, work in the salt and 4 cups of flour, mixing at low speed to obtain a smooth pliable dough that comes away from the sides of mixing bowl. Add flour as needed: the dough should be soft and not too sticky . Takes about 10 min of mixing. 3. Transfer the dough to large lightly oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place for an hour and a half to 2 hours. Till it doubles in bulk. 4. Punch down dough and divide into 3 to 6 even pieces, roll each into a 14 inch rope. Arrange them in front of you on a large lightly greased baking sheet and braid them as you would braid hair, pinching and tucking the ends in so they stay together. 5. Cover with a clean dishcloth or plastic wrap and let rise for 30 to 60 min until its puffy. 6. Brush challah with egg white and sprinkle with poppy seeds if desired. Place on middle rack in the oven and bake until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes. Transfer to cake rack to let cool. Makes 1 to 2 Challah loaves, serves about 10 people.

I should have probably been brought up on a kosher/halal diet, and then I wouldn't have the health issues I have these days

I should have probably been brought up on a kosher/halal diet, and then I wouldn't have the health issues I have these days Just to be clear Haal and Kosher are not the same thing. In order for Haal meat to be certified it has to be sacrificed to Allah. That makes it forbidden to eat since it is meat sacrificed to idols. I will work on writing up a more detailed thread about this subject. Costco only carries Haal certified lamb. If it is from Australia it is certified Haal, you will notice that most of the lamb in the grocery stores is Haal certified. Our food is under attack.
