Hi again, I am somewhat in your situation, though my husband is not a church-goer. What I would do, is do what you are able to do without too much friction with your husband. You know what is right. The Sabbath is meant to observed perfectly as a family and corporate thing, which of course can not be done unless the husband and the wife are both in agreement. So it will not be done perfectly in your case. Just do for yourself as much as you can to set this day apart. You will not be able to argue with your husband. Just leave it to the Lord to convict him in this area, and do the best as you can.

It means that we are not to be pursuing our own agenda on Adonai's holy day. We are to speak words of , words of life, and to set apart our conversation as we set apart the day. Shalom, Reuel

I think we should continue to discuss the relevance of keeping Shabbat (Sabbath) on the seventh day of each week. But, the following is a link to a great article about the Shabbat: Is Sunday The Lord's Day?Shalom, Reuel

Shalom, Reuel Thank you. I am just starting to realize that my speech on the Sabbath should reflect that it is the Sabbath. This to me is the most challenging aspect of the Sabbath. The tongue is hard to tame.

It is a challenge for us all at times. But, Adonai's grace is suffucient to help us overcome sin in our lives.

Shalom, chaverim
For those who remember me I just want to say that Hashen is open some doors for me to obey him more. Near by where I live there is a little messianic- christian group which I've been in touch and there is a great possibility that I'll be a part of then too. Yet is not what I am looking for, but I think they are in process of Restoration day by day. Here in England just the fact that there is Christian which wants to know more about shabbat and feast, is quite a lot.

You are certainly in our prayers. If there is any way that we can support you in your growth and ministry toward your community, please let me know. You can either personal message me if you have specific requests or my e-mail address is public. That goes for any of you.

This is a “how too” Shabbat in your home. This is the order of my Family’s Friday night Shabbat. www.aish.com/SSI/articleToPr...Jewish+woman%2EI had to edit this post, but left the link for those interested in seeing an example of traditional Jewish observance. Great Otto! I really appreciate your taking the time to make this material available to everyone. There are a couple of notes that I should add, wearing my official "Moderator" cap. The first is that aish.com is not a Messianic site and is very clear about its position of still awaiting the advent of the Messiah. This does not mean that it is taboo and that there is not a whole lot of really good information there. They are nice folk and I would not consider them at all hostile to the Messianic faith. They simply just don't agree and I wouldn't enter their house attemptingto convert them any more than I would abuse a non-Messianic synagogue in such a manner. If you visit, please go with such an understanding. The second thing that I would want to let people know is that while the traditional home-Sabbath rituals are fairly uniform, there is a broad spectrum of specific blessings and the order of events. It is not sacrilidge to vary the service to add or change things to more fit your individual worship. Otto has doen a great job at establishing a basic idea of such a worship service may be. For some, the blessing, for lighting the candles is a problem since Adonai, in , did not command us to light the Sabbath candles. A Messianic alternative is "Barukh ata Adonai, Eloheinu Melekh ha-olam, asher kidishanu beed-varehkha vahnay-tahn lanoo et Yeshua Mehshi-aynoo, ve-tzee-vanoo leh-he-oat or lah-olam." Blessed are You Adonai our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified is in Your Word, and has given us Yeshua our Messiah, and commanded us to be the Light of the world. There are many variations. This is just an example. Personally, I'm an e-bay junkie and most of my religious paraphenalia came through that source. Compare prices, dialogue with sellers. Google shopping is a good venue as well (and usually includes e-bay items in that search). It is important to know that since the words describiong these items are transliterations, there are no rules of spelling, as such, words like "havdalah" can be spelled in a whole lot of different ways : 'avdala, hav-dala, 'v-dalah, etc. You will get more options if you use your imagination while spelling.

Thank you mark for pointing these things out. And as you said aish.com is “[not]” a Messianic site. I do find that there “Family Parsha” / Story, creates very good family discussions with Questions for all ages, at the end of there story. This weeks story is: BADGE OF COURAGE In our story, a kid has to decide whether being good on the outside is good enough. www.aish.com/torahportion/family/Inside_and_Out.asp

I am looking to get my family more observant of the sabbath ritual. But it may be easier if we can view it. Does any one know of an instructional video on the Sabbath?
